Today I’m going to talk about book smart and street smart.
Have you heard the expression of book smart and street smart?
Both means smart, but the way you are smart is different.
Book smart means the smartness with the knowledge from formal education, books, and academic study.
By attending schools and reading books and getting some degrees, and then you become smart.
This is book smart.
On the other hand, street smart means the smartness with knowledge from your real-life experiences.
Through challenging or solving problems in difficult situations in your life, and then you will get some skills.
Which smartness do you prioritize？
In terms of English learning, after you learn basic grammar and vocabulary from school and books
you should get yourself to use English in your life because how much you remember the words and
grammars you will forget them without using them. You cannot acquire them without using them.
So, don’t be book smart too much. Street smart helps your English get better.
